The workshop focuses on enhancing the pesticide safety education programs conducted by Extension and approved by VDACS throughout the next year. The program is approved to recertify agents in Demonstration and Research (Category 10) pest control. This event also provides a venue at which to recognize the outstanding teamwork enjoyed between VDACS and VCE.

What are the guidelines for travel approval and reimbursement?
- Travel assistance is provided to agents and speakers.
- Detailed travel guidelines should be reviewed on the event website prior to travel.
- For your convenience, lodging requirements are as follows:
- Agents will have one half of a sleeping room at the Hotel Roanoke paid plus parking. If you share your room your total room cost will be paid. If you choose to stay in a single room you will pay the other half of the room from your operating funds. When registering for a room, please list your roommate(s) where it calls for room "guests."
- Mileage details:
- We will pay $0.42 per mile for trip mileage over 200 miles (roundtrip).
- We will pay $0.535 per mile for travel under 200 miles (roundtrip).
- Agents should carpool if possible.
- We will pay actual costs and not per diem rates.
- The reason we are restricting travel reimbursements in this way is that we have a limited amount of funds to pay travel expenses. For those with concerns about restricted mileage rates, you are welcome to file an exemption for the higher rate, but you will need to pick up the difference with your unit funds.
Will registering here reserve a room at the hotel?
- No, you must reserve your own room directly with the hotel.
- You may register for a room online at:
- You may also call the Hotel Roanoke to register by dialing:
- 540-985-5900
- Please make sure you mention the workshop name to receive the block rate ($107 single/$127 double).
- Agents --- Please remember, you are reserving the room on your credit card. If you fail to show the room will be billed to your card unless you cancel the room yourself. Once you checkin your part of the room charge (room and tax - not other charges on the room bill) will be charged to the workshop master account if you share a room. If you choose not to share a room, half the cost will be paid by the workshop, the other half will be charged to you. Please make sure your roommate's name(s) are also registered to the room. This can be done in the online room reservation system by you. If you have a problem, please contact the hotel at the number above.
